The progenitor of the Humbert-Hale Clan (Robert William), upon finding that the majority of his
Scottish heritage derived from Clan MacMillan, declared that all bearers of the Humbert-Hale name,
along with all their descendants and spouses, were to be considered members of Clan MacMillan. This was formalized during a ceremony conducted in the Iona Abbey Chapel on the 6th of August 2004. All but one of the then members of the Humbert-Hale clan was present at the occasion, which was presided over by Reverend Ian Grainger.
